Laura qualified in Madrid’s Universidad Complutense in 2015. Before moving to the UK and joining the Lawries team, she worked as the on-site veterinary surgeon in a wildlife rescue center in Costa Rica for nearly three years. There she gained experience with primates, toucans, parrots, sloths, anteaters and a large variety of other birds of prey and mammals. After moving to the UK, she worked for the next 2 years with an RCVS reptile specialist in Lincolnshire, to further her knowledge and gain experience in small animal and exotic practice.
Since a young age Laura has known that she wanted to dedicate herself to working with exotic pets and wildlife. She has also been a herpetology hobbyist for two decades. What she enjoys most about the veterinary medicine profession besides being able to work with exotics is orthopaedic surgery, especially in birds and small mammals.
In her free time she enjoys travelling around the world, spending time with her best friends, doing herpetological expeditions to observe reptiles and amphibians in the wild, as well as keeping aquariums and terrariums at home.
