Having stepped back from administrative responsibilities, Ian now works three days a week, which allows him to focus on what he enjoys most, looking after patients and providing the continuity of care that many cases need. Now 40 years into his veterinary career, and with 30 of those spent at this practice, he still gets great satisfaction from solving problems and helping animals get back to their best.
Ian has always had a particular interest in surgery and played a key role in setting up the practice’s endoscopic spay system, a technique he remains a firm advocate for. He’s also the person most likely to be found tackling the odd bit of DIY needed to keep the practice running smoothly.
Outside of work, Ian has one dog who happily joins him on outdoor adventures, including paddle boarding, while his cat definitely prefers a quieter life at home. He also keeps one hen and looks after six hives of bees.
