RCVS Recognised Advanced Practitioner in Zoological Medicine
Becky joined the practice in 2016 after doing placement with us as a student for several years and has remained with the practice ever since, enjoying the variety of patients seen here at Lawrie's. She is now Senior Veterinary Surgeon, seeing both Exotics and Small animal patients.
Becky graduated from the University of Edinburgh with distinction in 2016. Her main interests are birds, particularly parrots, but she enjoys seeing all patients, from dogs and cats, to amphibians and reptiles. She has completed an RCVS certificate in advanced veterinary practice in Zoological Medicine, having completed modules Exotic Avian species, Reptiles and Small mammals. Becky is also an RCVS Recognised Advanced Practitioner in Zoological Medicine.
Becky has also completed an RCVS certification in Feline Medicine, completing the synoptic designated exam for this in March 2025. She enjoys seeing complex medical cases and enjoys the challenge that feline patients bring!
During work, Becky enjoys looking after a small zoological collection in Glasgow including primates and other unusual species. She is also a vet GDP advisor and is involved in mentoring new graduates and new staff members. She is currently working towards American Board of Veterinary Practitioners Avian Diploma status.
Outside of work, Becky is one of the directors of the charity The Parrot Trust Scotland and looks after her own four birds-Squash, Basil, Sushi and Jellybean. She also has lots of other exotic pets including tortoises, geckos, dart frogs, tarantulas and a snake. Becky enjoys swimming on her days off and enjoys travelling the world to see the sun and wildlife whenever possible! She is happiest whenever she has a bird on her shoulder!
